NPO Support Centers in Japan

Japan NPO Center has developed this list of NPO Support Centers in Japan with the aim to facilitate foreigners who are interested in activities of local organizations in Japan and to improve relations and information exchange between NPOs with similar spheres of activities abroad. So far, Japan NPO Center has offered information about support centers nationwide in Japanese on its Japanese homepage. For inquiries in Japanese please refer to it.

This list represents centers, which fulfill to the following criteria:

• Engage in support for NPOs (groups, organizations mainly)
  
• Do not limit their activities to particular spheres of non-profit activities (environment protection, welfare, etc.)
  
• Have an established secretariat
  
• Offer advice concerning everyday NPO activities

Organizations, established as private entities
Organizations, established as part of Council of Social Welfare
Organizations, established by Local Government

Also, according to the organizations' ability to respond to inquiries in English, Japan NPO Center has divided them into 3 categories.

Organizations, which are able to respond to inquiries in English (through E-mail, telephone, and in person)
Organizations, which are able to respond to inquiries in English only through E-mail (as English-speaking staff might not be available everyday, please allow for a certain time of delay)
Organizations, which are not able to respond to inquiries in English
