The “Qadai Lab” project, a joint initiative established in 2018 by the Japan NPO Center (JNPOC) and Dentsu Team B, has launched a new column series in Forbes Japan.

Qadai Lab functions as a think tank focused on discovering unrecognized social issues in Japan and abroad and inspiring solutions. It collects real-world challenges from NPOs nationwide, covering themes such as “Children,” “Food,” “Gender,” and “Environment.” Dentsu copywriters then refine these issues, giving them captivating names—like the “[XX] Problem”—to attract attention and solution-oriented thinking from diverse sectors.

Drawing on seven years of the Qadai Lab’s work, the Forbes Japan column periodically features a social issue, offering insights and potential solutions. The column has, for instance, featured ethical problems like the killing of gorillas in the Congo due to rare metal mining for mobile devices. It has also explored unique solutions to Japan’s “experience gap,” such as an initiative that opens a café in a school library to support low-income high school students.

This series aims to bring these deep-seated, hidden issues to a wider audience, encouraging new partnerships and driving action toward social change.
